I often hear and read that people are unhappy with the performance of their business. How life is just a tiny bit unfair, and that other people seem to have all the luck. They have tried everything, but nothing seems to work.
There is almost always 'another way'; an alternative option, a pivot, a re-think - something to help you move forward!
❌ Business, and life itself, aren't easy. It isn't meant to be easy. If it were easy, everyone would be doing it, and everyone would win. It's just not reality.
✔️ To succeed at any challenge requires dedication, education, motivation and grit.
❌ The performance of my business isn't where I want it to be, and it's not fair.
✔️ Take a look in the mirror. You are where you are because of your decisions and your performance. If your results are lower than you would like them to be, raise your standards. Be super honest about what's going on, and raise your standards.
❌ My competitors have been luckier than me.
✔️ What, all of them? Or just the ones performing better than you? I am not a big believer in 'luck' having a significant and long term impact on the performance of a business. We have probably all heard the famous 'the harder I work, the luckier I get' quote (often attributed to Thomas Jefferson). I think there is a nuance to that thought; luck is where opportunity meets preparation. Of course, preparation may well be hard work, but it is something we can control. Opportunity could come knocking at any time, often outside our control, so making sure we are ready for it is good preparation. Luck? I'm not so sure.

✔️ Really? I mean, really? Have you literally tried everything you can? Or might it be that you have tried a few things, and nothing has worked? Yet. Keep going, and you may get lucky!
